What this means: The BEA Negotiating Team & Board of Education Negotiating Team have agreed to terms – both contractual language changes and a financial settlement. We will not need to go to mediation. What comes next: The terms of the financial settlement have been submitted to the NJEA Research Department, where our salary guides will be constructed. Once they are completed, they will be sent to the Board of Education for approval. Once both sides have signed off on the salary guides, our team will be able to present the guides & the language changes to the full membership of the BEA. At that presentation, we will explain the terms of the Memorandum of Agreement, and notify you of the time of the ratification vote. Once the changes have been ratified by the full membership of the BEA, they will be presented to the full Board of Education, for their ratification. In the meantime, the district attorney’s office will begin typing up new versions of the contract, which will be proofread and signed by the BEA President and Superintendent. Once that has been completed, the new contract will go into effect.
